I very much enjoyed the first quarter of the book.
While a lot of common tropes are present the MC was refreshingly uncomplicated and honest.

But as soon as the actual RH members are introduced it devolved into full-fledged porn.
There is some kind of flimsy plot and stuff but the only thing that gets any page time is smut.
And when I say porn, I mean porn. It reads exactly like professionally shot porn with professional porn stars including the absurd moaning and cringe-inducing lines. This doesn't read like hot book smut.

I am pretty disappointed by this turn of events. While I wasn't under any illusions of how this mfmm setup would turn out, I hoped there would be something more than this token effort in terms of plot and romance.
I actually liked the MC for once.
There was a bit of the "forgiving too fast" trope which is sadly common but nothing too bad.

I was intrigued by the mansion full of creepy monsters and her living among them and ruling the roost.
I would've loved to read an entire book like that.
But it wasn't to be. ( )

Read it, but be preapred to question if you are going to dnf it or push through. I suggest pushing through but just kind of letting the plot holes and immature behavior slide over your brain. It gets tedious sometimes, but all in all was a good story if you can get past the characters all acting like they are in high school, when the youngest is our heroine at age 30. ( )

I'm getting tired of the "tough but vulnerable heroine with a secret purpose to life that even she doesn't know" trope. This book also lacked a lot of clarity as to what the characters' motivations are. I still have no idea who or what Damiana is and why she's so special that she has three guardians/mates. My best guess is that she's some kind of angel or possibly a god. But I really don't need to stick around to find out.

Are the sexy bits sexy? Yes, but not enough to save this book. ( )

i like all the characters* and the general setup, but no part ever reached half its potential. and! there are so many unanswered questions and blah plotty things going on that after about 80% i started skimming heaaaavily and read only what was interesting lmao
