I love continuing to see Murderbot grow into their own person. ( ) This is a very enjoyable two sitting novella in the Murderbot series. In hardback it runs 168 pages. Murderbot solves a murder on a station that is so civil and civilized that the Security Team's main task is dealing with drunkenness. Of course, they know about SecUnits from media feeds and keep getting in the way. Murderbot has a mystery to solve. There's usually a mystery of some form in the Murderbot series. Unlike the other books, this one takes us on a tour through Preservation station, the utopian world where Murderbot wound up after the events of the first four novellas. With a less-immediately-threatening environment that those books the novel has to rely on its central premise, the investigation of a murder in Paradise. The constant tension between Murderbot and their environment is replaced by tension between our rogue SecUnit and the people working in Preservation Station Security in this novel, and takes some of the edginess away. The mystery is good, the murder compelling and the swearing at human stupidity from our protagonist rolls in regularly. It's a great, fun story, but lacks some of the bite present in the original novellas. Still well worth a read for fans who just want MORE MURDERBOT!! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

"The New York Times bestselling security droid with a heart (though it wouldn't admit it!) is back in Fugitive Telemetry! Having captured the hearts of readers across the globe (Annalee Newitz says it's "one of the most humane portraits of a nonhuman I've ever read") Murderbot has also established Martha Wells as one of the great SF writers of today. No, I didn't kill the dead human. If I had, I wouldn't dump the body in the station mall. When Murderbot discovers a dead body on Preservation Station, it knows it is going to have to assist station security to determine who the body is (was), how they were killed (that should be relatively straightforward, at least), and why (because apparently that matters to a lot of people-who knew?) Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen: Murderbot must voluntarily speak to humans! Again! A new standalone adventure in the New York Times-bestselling, Hugo and Nebula Award winning series!"-- Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
