Nobody saw a thing. Or so they say... Baywood police department detective A.L. McKittridge is no stranger to tough cases, but when five-year-old Emma Whitman disappears from her day care, there isn't a single shred of evidence to go on. Neither the grandmother who dropped her off, nor the teacher whose care she was supposed to be in, can account for the missing child. There are no witnesses. No trace of where she might have gone. There's only one thing A.L. and his partner, Rena Morgan, are sure of--somebody is lying. With the clock ticking, A.L. and Rena are under extreme pressure as they discover their instincts are correct: all is not as it seems. The Whitmans are a family with many secrets, and A.L. and Rena will have to race to untangle a growing web of lies if they're going to find the thread that leads them to Emma...before it's too late.… (meer)

3.5 Stars bumped up to 4.

Second in a series, but definitely can be read as a stand alone as I did. This story follow the worst days of a detective’s life. When a child is missing, every second counts. In this story, the child is missing 10 hours before anyone realizes and reports her missing.

A.L. and Rena have a special relationship as partners and friends. They are each other’s work spouse, and that’s rare and unique. I enjoyed this work relationship and how they played off each other...in this missing child situation and in their private dealings. The characters were all well written, and very realistic. Situations are reasonable and thought out. I look forward to reading more from this author, and in this series. Story moves at a quick pace, just as I imagine a detective mind does on a hot case. If you are a fan of detective stories and who done its, I recommend this book!

Thanks to Ms. Long, MIRA/Harlequin and NetGalley for this ARC. Opinion is mine alone. ( )

A five-year-old is missing, and no one knew the entire day she hadn’t been in the day care rooms?

How could they not have known Emma was missing when there are sign-in sheets, teachers who loved Emma, and teachers who know she is there every day?

The worst part is that there are no clues to be had.

Someone is lying, but who?

The search continued, everyone’s stories checked out, the mayor was after the police department to work harder, the town was worried about their children, and still every lead turned up empty.

NO ONE SAW is another fast-paced, well done mystery by Ms. Long.

You will be grabbing at every clue along with the detectives and hoping something turns up.

A must read for mystery fans. 5/5

This book was given to me by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. ( )

Five year old Emma is missing from her day care. Detectives A.L. McKittridge and Rena Morgan have been called in to investigate. Time is not their friend at the moment and they must hurry to unravel the mystery and find Emma as quickly as possible.

I am impressed with A.L. and Rena’s deductions. Both are intelligent and take no crap. They navigate all the lies and secrets, which is not easy feat, to uncover the true story!

This story started slow…but then it gradually built into a twisted, wicked tale. I was captivated and just kept trying to guess what actually happened.

Need a good story full of secrets and lies….don’t miss this one!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review. ( )

Five-year-old Emma is dropped off at her daycare center and promptly goes missing. No one notices until the end of the day when she isn’t there when her father comes to pick her up.

This book had me on the edge of my seat. Every time I thought I was near to figuring out who took Emma and why another twist would occur and start me guessing again. At some point, I think I suspected pretty much everyone in the story. Some red herrings thrown in. I lost some sleep with this book as I could not put it down.

I have not read the first book in this series, but this book works as a stand-alone. I really liked the interplay between the detective partners A.L. and Rena.

As much as I enjoyed this book, there was one flaw for me that resulted in the four-star rating versus five stars. As the wrap up is given at the end of the book, there were some factors that were suddenly dropped in with no earlier hints. But I still enjoyed the story. ( )

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.

This is the best police procedural I have read for ages. It concerns the disappearance of a 5 year old girl: her grandmother claims she dropped her off at her daycare; her teacher says she never arrived. Detectives A.L. and Rena work well together, the plot made sense and moved quickly. There was a certain amount of focus on A.L. and Rena's respective personal lives, and I think some of this had been covered already in the first instalment, which I have not read, but it added to the plot by making them seem like real people with normal home lives, rather than acting as a distraction.

I am deducting half a star as there were elements of the final explanation which it was impossible for the reader to have deduced. Nevertheless, highly recommended. ( )
