This was quite a fun read, with the main characters having a history together but unable and unwilling to admit their feelings for one another, it gave a good, slow burn. I quite enjoyed the setting of mid-19th century New Orléans and the ethnic dynamics between Cajuns, Creoles and Americans. There were moments that definitely made me laugh, and it was an overall enjoyable read. It would be 5 stars if not for a few historical errors that cropped up, which was my only issue with the novel.
