The twists, the turns, and the eventual revelation of truth are so beautifully written. This is a page turner, and just when you think you have figured everything out-you realize you have no idea. Can we really know someone?Kiersten Modglin writes a brutally tragic story, filled with hurt, hope and secrets... A journey that will leave you exhausted, a trip that will make you angry, sad, confused, and in the end will blow your mind. Sit down, buckle up and try to hold on. You are in for a ride. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Palmer is blissfully happy with Ben, her husband of 6 months, and their newborn son Gray. Then she goes back to work just 2 weeks after Gray’s birth. After her first day, she begins sensing that something is not right with Ben. Having previously been cheated on after an 8 year relationship, she has definite trust issues anyway. She comes across as a woman who is strong in her business life but flawed in her personal life. She sneaks around following Ben and sees him with another woman. Instead of confronting him immediately she continues to follow him and the woman. She doesn’t confide in her best friend and work partner. Even when she goes to the police after Ben and Gray disappear, she still goes off on her own to find them. This is another book that stresses the importance of communication. There are several twists in this book that kept me reading late into the night. I definitely did not see the ending coming! Thanks to the author for allowing me to read an early copy of this book. "I could see the way she was looking at them, as if they were the perfect family. To unknowing eyes, I knew that's what they looked like. To mine, they were a family destined to be torn apart. An mine would be the hands doing the tearing." Hear ye, hear ye!! All bow down before the Queen of Twist and Turns!! Once again, Ms. Modglin produces a mind-blowing thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and guessing until the very end!! And, oh, what an ending!! From the prologue all the way to the end, this one had my mind running in circles - well more like one of those Crazy Straws we had when we were kids (if you don't know what a Crazy Straw is, Google it). Who is narrating the prologue? Well, I thought I knew, but guess what? I was WRONG! Is Palmer just being paranoid because she's been burned before? Is she having a mental breakdown? Is she lost in her own mind? Is Ben really cheating or is there more to the story? Who is the other woman and what is her connection? Did Ben really take Gray and leave? Then I started wondering , do they even exist because at one point I thought Palmer was outright losing her mind! So, I'm not going in to any details of the story here for a reason. First, the blurb will give you an inkling of what you're in for. But, trust me, it's only an inkling. Secondly, there are so many layers to this story, so many curve balls, and twists that you won't be able to stop reading until you know all the answers. And, trust me, they are not the answers you'll be expecting. Lies, betrayal, heartbreak, danger, you name it, it's in here. You just have to read it yourself. I don't even want to hint at anything. Oh, and when you finish it, you tell me - good or evil? For most of us, we would do anything for the ones we love, even if it means crossing to the dark side, right? But once crossed, is there ever any crossing back? Or, is it just a dotted line allowing one to pass back and forth through the gaps as needed. Hmmm? geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Palmer Lewis married a liar. But just how deadly are his lies? Shortly after marrying her soulmate and the birth of their son, the lies begin. First, it's the phone calls, always held in secret, always deleted from his phone. Then it's his odd disappearances and the little nagging voice in her head screaming: something is not right. When Palmer follows her gut - and her husband - she catches him with an unfamiliar woman in the park and in his biggest lie thus far. Learning from her past, she hatches a plan to protect herself and their child. But when her husband and son disappear one afternoon and don't return, Palmer must retrace her steps and dig deep to discover the truth before it's too late. Who is the mysterious woman her husband lied about meeting? Who knows what happened to her family? Who's lying? In this twisted psychological thriller, the better question is, who isn't?
