Dr. Lauren Wright is a serious research scientist with blonde hair, smoky green eyes and a curvy plus-size figure. He swipes Lauren's computer, thinking that the formula is encrypted inside. What he finds instead is a code worth breaking-the key to Lauren's heart. When they meet, it's hate at first sight. But a sinister group of vamps who don't want to be outed attack Lauren, forcing her and Kris to take refuge at the most notorious bondage/Domination night club in Houston, where the price of admission is fantasy and desire. Zane O'Malley cares for Serena, but wishes he could act out his dominant tendencies in the bedroom. Since he respects her, he doesn't feel he could show her how he feels without scaring her off.
This was my first story by Maggie Casper and I really enjoyed it. I liked the fact that Serena and Zane were already in a relationship, had issues like any real life couple (lack of communication being the main one) and, eventually, were willing to work things out. The chemistry was great and I had a great feel for them. Zane was very dominant and some of the things he wanted raised my eyebrows, but he was never demeaning and never pushed Serena further than she wanted to go. Serena challenged him both in and out of the bedroom. She had a good head on her shoulders, even though she doubted herself at times. The only issue I had with the book is that it seemed to end abruptly, but it didn't really detract from the overall story.
Honor Rollings is back in Texas to bury her aunt. She has painful memories of her parents death when she was sixteen and has been a wanderer ever since. She takes a temporary job at O'Malley's Pub for extra cash. Honor thinks that Sean is crazy when he tells her that she is the one and lets him know she has no intentions of settling down.
Sean O'Malley knew Honor was the woman for him the minute he laid eyes on her. It didn't take him long to stake a claim on her, but can he make Honor want to stay in Texas with him?
I didn't like this story as much as Zane's Way. I felt that Sean and Honor jumped into things too quickly and there was no real spark. The relationship never really progressed and all of a sudden they loved each other. Honor didn't want to share with Sean how badly the passing of her parents' death affected her and it really bothered me. I guess since I never got a real feel for Honor, I wasn't sympathetic to her pain. (
