Okay, nine months later and the books have blended together a bit. I remember pieces, and I remember liking it, and I remember reading in that desperate state where you're in the middle of a series and you might die if you don't finish, so yeah, even going back through and I can't quite sort out that what for which book, at least for #3 and #4. The wait was so hard for this book and it did not disappoint! It was suspenseful, emotional, heartbreaking and wonderful all at once. Grace struggled to let herself become who she always was and was meant to be but in the end she was brave and selfless. The world and the details are what make this book so enthralling and engaging and yes some may say Grace is a character that is a bit whiny or emotional but if you look at who she really is all around, she is the way she is because she has such an inner struggle and when she comes to terms with that it is all worth it. I may have to read this book again just to get to enjoy the world all over again. If you love fantasy and YA and a little romance, this is a fantastic book and a great series! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

No one survived the last battle unscathed. Flint is angry at the world, Jaxon is turning into something I don't recognize, and Hudson has put up a wall I'm not sure I'll ever break through. Now war is coming, and we're not ready. We're going to need an army to have any hope of winning. But first, there are questions about my ancestors that need answers. Answers that might just reveal who the real monster is among us. And that's saying something in a world filled with bloodthirsty vampires, immortal gargoyles, and an ancient battle between two gods. There's no guarantee that anyone will be left standing when the dust settles, but if we want to save this world, I have no choice. I'll have to embrace every part of me . . . even the parts I fear the most. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Nearly all the characters in this series are unlikeable. The main character, Grace, is still just as self-absorbed, obnoxious, and weak as she was in book 1. Her boyfriend, Hudson, is pretty bland and his personality changes by book like Wolff doesn’t know how to keep him consistent. Even Flint is no longer an enjoyable character, even with all of his flaws.
I’ve mentioned before that I wish Jaxon, since book 1 was the protagonist of the series. But by now I just wish she wouldn’t have created his character at all. Nothing good ever happens to him and honestly the other characters are just mean to him, it’s like Wolff’s punching bag. She started him off as a strong character and then just beats him down for the next 3 books, and from what I’ve read, she tries to reconcile it by giving him a mate but he’s still not appreciated in the next two.
★★★ Definitely not one of my favorite vampire series. I will finish it out but I wouldn’t recommend. ( )
