I swear this author gets better and better with each book she writes. I realize that normally is what happens, but she takes it double the elicness. This was suspense at the very best. And the dirty talk "alphaness" of Kage?!?! Yeah, must take my money. Great storyline, unexpected twists, and a girls friendship that is what every girl should have. I cannot wait for Sloane's book. She almost stole the show in this book. Well, I tried. I think it's fairly official that this author is not for me. This book is hilarious, but I don't mean the try-hard banter. I mean the intensity, I mean the lines, the pathetic insta-everything. The fact that they never use the word "Bratva," the dialogue, peppered with "beautiful girl" and a bunch of shit no one says to each other after 6 hours of knowing one another, the fact that a middle school teacher just says "I'm in," and essentially becomes a mafia wife. What passes for coy, flirtatious banter here is just... YMMV, this author is so popular. For me though, the tension is misplaced, the relationship and dialogue eons away from organic and I couldn't take this "dark romance" seriously in the least. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

"Five years ago, my fianc© disappeared. He left me with a wedding dress Íd never wear. Left me with the kind of scars that cant be healed. The man I built my future on vanished like a ghost. All that remained were my broken heart and unanswered questions. Until a mysterious stranger arrives in town. Tall, dark, and dangerous, Kage is as full of secrets as he is sex appeal. Though I know hés hiding something, Ím drawn to him like a moth to flame. The intensity of our connection is addictive, unlike anything Íve ever felt before. Heat crackles between us with every look, desire flares into passion, and I fall hard, unable to resist. But when I discover how hés tied to the darkness in my past, I learn what happens when you fly recklessly into fire: You get burned."--Provided by publisher. I'm not generally a fan of the "good girl/bad boy" trope. I LOOOOVVVVVVVEEEE the bad boy aspect, but the good girl always feels like a vehicle to tell the bad boy's story to me.
Here, the h had a bit more depth than some others, but it was still a challenge for me.
Kage, on the other hand was just hawt. Definitely brought up the average. ( )
