Book 2 in the Lord Hani Mysteries is a continuation, and it is even more intriguing as the story develops. The author’s writing pulls me in from the beginning and continues as the story builds all the way through to the end. Again, the research put into the history of Egypt is so on top of it. I always come away with new facts. Hani and his family are well-written characters that make you want to dive into the story because you feel like you know them. The plot runs smoothly along. Another installment that enthralling and makes you want to learn more about Egypt and history. I recommend this story. ( )
The Crocodile Makes No Sound is a slow-burning historical mystery set in the beautiful, dangerous world of ancient Egypt.4/5 stars With an impeccably paced plot and an abundance of unexpected twists and turns, Holmes has managed to provide readers with a novel that bridges the gap between literary fiction and page-turning suspense—a must-read for fans of anything ‘Egypt’ and historical fiction alike! 5/5 stars “An ancient historical mystery brought to life in the second book in the Lord Hani mysteries. Perfect for those who love a whodunit and who’s next in this well-crafted, evocative mystery thriller! Highly recommended.” Holmes captures the pressures and anxieties of regime change, religious allegiances, and political jockeying, but the author never loses sight of the drama, joy, and pain within Hani’s household. Holmes expertly develops the cast and setting... A satisfying mystery in a vividly realized historical setting. The Crocodile Makes No Sound is a masterfully written saga featuring complex storylines and emotionally connective characters. It should delight mystery and historical fans alike. Starred review. "Four years into Akhenaten's new regime, the dissatisfaction of those who practiced the old religion of Amen-Ra is growing. Hani, a diplomat already under the king's surveillance because of the disappearance of his firebrand Amen priest brother-in-law, gets drawn into an investigation for the Beloved Royal Wife, who is being blackmailed. Meanwhile, the new vassal king of A'amu, lodged at Hani's house until the king grants him an audience, is showing himself to be none too loyal. Hani must walk the line between his oath to the king and his conscience."--Page 4 of cover. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
