Little Andy was the tiniest and palest child of the Warholas, a humble couple from Slovakia who lived in Pittsburgh. Sketchbook glued to his hand, he loved every minute of drawing, but he was too shy to show his work to others, even to his family! As an adult he got a chance to publish his first illustration for a glamorous magazine. He turned his attention to the ordinary, like soup cans he ate from for lunch every day. He showed the world that the ordinary objects could POP, and founded a cultural movement. This moving book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the inspiring artist's life.… (meer)

This biography of Andy Warhol is a nice starting location. It doesn’t get into the craziness of his life, but it gives a nice solid ground to look into more things about the artist. There’s a note in a page about him being confined to bed for a leg weakness, but they never mention why, which I think would’ve been interesting. And once again, I think the pictures in the end should be full color. ( )

Time for another marvellous book in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series.

I do love a little extra learning in my picture books. This series is fabulous for teaching readers about famous people in about 32 pages. Colourful pictures, cartoons and illustrations help tell their tales.

This book's art is very simplistic. It's basic shapes and colours to tell Andy Warhol's story. I didn't know much about this creative soul, but I'm glad this book helped tell me a little bit more about this famous man. The story is empowering and eye opening. It's a great tale to tell.

I do think the illustration style for this one makes the quality feel cheap. I like when the pictures are more engaging. I'm assuming this was done on purpose for Andy Warhol's style - but I felt that it made the book feel very cheap. The art style really ruins this book for me.

Overall, good read for some educational vibes.

Two out of five stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. ( )

This very shy boy who was sidelined by illness at age eight grew to be a very special and different artist who developed a whole new ideas in commercial and advertising art. The illustrations are mostly simple and forthright with brilliant colors thanks to illustrator Timothy Hunt.
I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. Thank you! ( )
