A really fun easy read. Someone referred to it as a palate cleanser book, and I agree. Every now and then you have to read something that is just fun. In the time of Covid, Jamie gets fired from her startup marketing job and has to work as a "door dash" driver. A customer offers her a job working with a team that works with animals, VERY big animals. Kaiju's are real, they come from a parallel earth, and the KPS is tasked with studying them, keeping them out of our world and helping them survive. "The last version was almost there. Doc said she definitely saw evidence of a tumescent cloaca." I laughed. "What's got you chuckling?" Satie said. "I was just thinking that Edward's Tumescent Cloaca would have been an excellent band name." "Emo, obviously," Kahurangi said. "Their first album glistened with promise, but their follow-up was a little flaccid." "Their third album was really shitty." "To be fair, the competition was stiff that year." "I just thought that they should have shown a little more spunk" geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls "an animal rights organization." Tom's team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, massive dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world. They're the universe's largest and most dangerous panda and they're in trouble. It's not just the Kaiju Preservation Society whose found their way to the alternate world. Others have, too. And their carelessness could cause millions back on our Earth to die. Note: there is some "gruesome" violence (a la Shawn of the Dead style). But since it is embedded within the banter and "it all works out in the end" vibe, it is not off-putting. And the end is Very Satisfying! :^) ( )
