Title: Crossed Lines (Love Along the Wires #2)
Author: Jennifer Delamere
Pages: 336
Year: 2021
Publisher: Bethany Pub.
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars.
Crossed Lines is the second book in the Love Along the Wires series written by Jennifer Delamere. I was hooked on the story when I read but a few words of a sample sent to my Kindle. I prefer hard copies of stories to electronic, so I purchased the book. At first, it was a little slow for me, but that is most likely because I am used to other types of genres. As I progressed through the book, I became intrigued in the era the story is set as well as the possible love triangle that was building.
In the novel, two men are best friends having grown up together and through difficulties, forging a strong bond. Mitchell Harris is a wordsmith and hard worker, though the past has left a scar of unbelief on his heart. Christopher Newman is a brilliant engineer with good looks and charm gaining women’s attention until he tries to speak to a lady, then he finds expressing his heart with words difficult. The story gets more intriguing when Christopher asks for Mitchells help in expressing his heart to Emma in writing. Both men desire to court Emma, Emma wants one for a friend and thinks she is in love with the other. Who will ultimately prove to be the man to fill Emma’s life with the adventures she has always desired?
Throughout the pages it was entertaining to see how these two men wanted to win the heart of Emma. However, the way they decide to go about the task brings about a climax not just in finding out who may win the fair maiden’s heart, but the motive in their own hearts. Emma Sutton is a character who wants the desires of her heart, a home and family. Her faith keeps her grounded in waiting on God’s timing.
The novel highlights the theme of faith and believing in God’s love no matter what life’s circumstances may be. Emma is a wonderful woman who exhibits love because of the love she knows God shows her, even though life can be challenging. Mitchell’s heart is revealed in the story aa he has to decide whether to draw near to God or not.
The tale was a nice change of pace from what I normally read. It is a tale of hope, change, challenge, fun and friendship. I hope others will take time to enjoy the story. I haven’t read the first book in the series yet titled Line By Line, but now I plan to do so.
I hope the next book in the series shares Rose’s story. You’ll learn about her when you read the book. Enjoy the tale!

What a unique story about a love triangle! The romance in this novel is endearing and engaging. I really enjoyed the characters as they muddle through romance and learn about second chances, truth, and misunderstandings. I always enjoy novels with characters that are realistic and believable! I loved reading about their spiritual growth in the story. The plot is intriguing and interesting, and the setting is beautifully told and easy to visualize. Although this novel is part of a series, I think it stands very well on its own. Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own. ( )

I always enjoy Jennifer Delamere’s books, so I was excited to read Crossed Lines, the second book in her Love Along the Wires series. With a setting in London in 1881 and a cast of colorful, realistic, and endearing characters, this book brought to life the world of the telegraph office. I enjoyed learning more about this little slice of history while enjoying a charming romance.

“God has a way of know our needs and providing for them, even before we know what they are. You must trust in His timing.”

Emma Sutton is a cheerful, likeable telegraph operator who is longing for marriage and her own home. Mitchell is an engaging, hard-working, and enamored of Emma. When his friend Christopher falls for Emma, also, he agrees to help Christopher. I enjoyed seeing how this love triangle played out. The author has penned a delightful, well-written story, and I’m excited to see what she has in store for Rose in the next book of the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from Bethany House. All opinions are my own. ( )

This is a wonderful story that incorporates some aspects of Cyrano de Bergerac. Emma and Mitchell are wonderful characters that need to learn that looks and flowery words are not all there is in a relationship. I enjoyed learning about some of what Christopher did in his job also. I hope that the next book in this series will let us learn more about Rose and Christopher. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. ( )

I usually am not in favor of love triangles but this was cute and showed the heart of the three characters. We see flawed humans and spiritual growth in the story.
Emma is a telegrapher at the Central Telegraph Office in 1881 London and we see how important her job is. She has a sunny disposition but at the same time she is looking for adventure and romance. Mitchell and childhood best friend Christopher also work at CTO and are both infatuated with Emma. Mitchell has a poetic soul, is hardworking and is trying to overcome a disability that he hopes no one will notice. He is a loyal friend to Christopher and agrees to help him win Emma, since he is often tongue tied in the presence of ladies. This has clear vibes of Cyrano De Bergerac but with a much happier ending.
Ms. Delamere depicts the CTO as a buzzing place and gives interesting historical information. She also includes a comet watching party.
Emma has a staunch friend in Rose and confides in her. She also befriends a gardener, Mr. Frye, who gives sound spiritual advice: “God has a way of knowing our needs and providing for them, even before we know what they are. You must trust in His timing,” She loves working in her garden: “I live in expectation. When the Bible tells us to live in hope, it is easy for me to see it in terms of my garden.”
This was an interesting, absorbing, sometimes funny read and gave us a hint that Rose’s story is next!
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House on behalf of the author. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.* ( )
