Spannend laatste deel in de Scholomance serie. Hoewel ik het idee achter de enclaves in het begin nogal onduidelijk vond, werd dat aan het einde van het boek langzaam duidelijker en kon ik me laten meevoeren in het verhaal. Het wordt in zijn geheel door Galadriel (El) Higgins vertelt en dat vond ik in het eerste deel wel wat vreemd, maar ook daar wen je gauw aan. Over het verdere verhaal en de afloop daarvan ga ik niet veel vertellen, want dan zou ik teveel spoileren. Een ding wil ik wel vertellen, aan het einde heb ik ook nog een traantje laten vallen. ( )
Het laatste wat Orion, die ongelooflijke rotzak, tegen me zei was: 'El, ik hou ontzettend veel van je.'

El is uit de Scholomance ontsnapt, maar een nieuw gevaar dreigt. Het enige waar je nooit over praat als je in de Scholomance zit, is wat je zult doen als je eruit komt. El heeft op wonderbaarlijke wijze haar eindexamen gehaald. Samen met Orion en hun bondgenoten redde El de enclaves, maar nu is iemand anders van plan de enclaves te vernietigen. El is vastbesloten terug te keren naar de Scholomance, ook al is de kans dat ze er ooit weer uit zal komen afschuwelijk klein.
