I would call this book solidly meh (a 2.5 in my rating scale), but it earns an extra half star for the title alone! ( )

A quick over the top haunted house story ( )

This was a lot of fun. I started it while sitting in a Kwik Kar, waiting for my car to be worked on, and it was a wild ride from start to finish. Asman's sarcasm and humor are apparent with every page, and the storyline is like a bizarre mixture of "Men" and "The Visit" and asks the reader to just go along for the ride. I especially liked the areas of hallucination, which can be tricky to pull off in a book, but I could see it all so vividly. ( )

A quick, fun horror read with a wacky ending.

I hovered between a three and a four with this one until the ending took a turn for the bizarre. A family moves into a new house that is really nice. But the kids are creepy (at least one of them is), the dad is happily clueless, and the mom—Sabrina— is going through a bit of a midlife crisis over amounting to nothing more than being "mom."

Mom isn’t enthused with the move to satisfy her husband's job related advancements, but the house—it settles her, kind of. Eventually. Until it doesn’t. And there you have the title for the book.

Damien, the youngest of Mom's two children, and living up to the standard for the name, sets a living nightmare in motion when he sets out on a mission to scare the h-e-double-hockey-sticks out of his mother. But supernatural forces aren’t to be reckoned with, and his plans go awry. Deadly awry.

A touch of Poltergeist. A touch of King Kong in a very weird way. Worth a read in the category of horror lite. ( )

Horror is not my genre as a general rule so it’s a bit difficult for me to review this one. It was weird but not in a bad way- I kept expecting it to get scary but it never did, it just got stranger. I didn’t quite click with any of the characters but overall it was a mostly entertaining light little read. ( )
