Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. I liked this book. The action was fast-paced and I enjoyed seeing it from a variety of viewpoints. While this story stands on its own, I would enjoy seeing more of these characters.Note: I received a copy through Early Reviewers DON"T JUDGE THIS BOOK BY IT'S COVER! Yes, it has some truly unfortunate cover art, but I promise the book is great. I had the chance to read this as an early reviewer copy and just loved it! Space based military science fiction with strong female leads have been my favorite genre for most of my life, so I am very picky them. Daire's Devils was delightfully written with great character development and so many plot twists that "just one chapter more" turned into an all nighter. My only complaint is that since I finished reading this a couple of days, I can't get into my next book because I keep thinking about this one! I hope that Danielle Ackley-McPhail will continue this story, I can't wait see what scrapes these characters get into next! Kat is a badass when she finds they have been infiltrated by a force that has taken over top ranks to get to their secrets. The challenge is what happens when they are the face of the ones you know? Having been booted from her ship and running flight control, she doesn't let anything hold her back. Written with power to grab you right from the start, you are sucked right into the story and don't want to miss anything. Kat is such a strong character that she is very relatable. The other characters are well-written to be support players. A few glitches in plot help to give it just the right thrill, such as Commander Glei not showing up in the reflection and his fingers always plucking at something. I loved this book. Though not my usual genre, this author has gained a fan. Get out and read this one. Click that button. You'll find it's worth it. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

The characters felt real, organic, and present; the physics system made logical sense; and the plot felt plausible (in a universe with the given assumptions).
The twists in the book, while not necessarily expected, followed reasonable causal paths. ( )
