In this dystopian tale of the battle between good and evil, 17 year-old Sandy tells us a story of what a world is like when evil rears its monstrous head to take the reins of control for a little while. Even though this is a work of fiction, I see so many similarities to the evil and lies we’ve had to fight against in the past two years of this covid PLANdemic. Sandy sees and experiences the heinous acts of immoral politicians and powerful elites taking away the freedoms so many people take for granted, while the mainstream media frolics in the same bed with the evil doers. But Sandy is not one to back down, nor is she alone. She courageously fights for what is moral and right, helping others along the way to see what evil is, and that it can be, and always will be defeated.

This is another fine piece of writing by Bobby Underwood. It reminds me of Orwell’s “1984” and Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451”, but in a much more condensed form with sparkling images and dialogue that remind us of how important freedom is, and what it sometimes costs to keep it. But more than that, it is a story of hope, in that good and love will prevail all. ( )
