It is our duty to make that bearing as beneficial as possible.â When two colorful and interesting, but seemingly incongruent, characters were thrown together in this book, I couldnât see how it was going to work out, but author Kristi Ann Hunter shuffled them through enough adventures and awakened their minds enough that we got a happy ending. Wealthy heiress Harriet Hancock loves to use her wealth and prestige to anonymously bless the lives of others. What she doesnât realize is that sometimes it felt like she was manipulating them. âWhy was it so difficult for people to understand that helping others was its own reward? It was a purpose in and of itself.â Hardworking and unpretentious Jonas Fitzroy is a stable hand who enjoys working with horses but doesnât really care for prestige or society in general. Heâs thoughtful and protective of his sister and shuns the spotlightâuntil Harriet takes him on as her newest project. I enjoyed the interaction between Harriet and Jonas and seeing their relationship grow. âThere is so much of God in nature, whether it be the flow of a stream or the beauty of a horse or the tickle of a breeze. The fact that everyone feels the same wind or wades through the same water regardless of who they are or where they were born reminds me that God sees us all the same and loves us equally.â This story felt like it had more of an inspirational message than most of Kristi Ann Hunterâs books. Threads of being truthful, having integrity, and not being manipulative, as well as forgiveness were woven through it. Hunterâs signature sense of humor still was apparent, though, to lighten up the scenes. Although it can be read as a stand alone book, it was fun to see characters from the previous books in the series play parts in this one. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from Bethany House Publishers. All opinions are my own. Having greatly enjoyed the first two novels in the Hearts on the Heath series, I was very excited to dive into this third book. I was delighted to read more about characters and focus in particular on Harriet and Jonas, who were introduced to us in the previous books. (Although you do not necessarily have to read these stories in order, I do recommend it as you get some more background information on the different individuals.) I love how Kristi Ann Hunter writes about characters that have great growth and development in her stories. I didnât connect with Harriet and Jonas as immediately as I did the previous two couples, but I really liked reading about them changing for the better in the book. Their banter was fun too! There is a little mystery to the novel as both have secrets that are revealed during the story. I liked the spiritual theme of seeking Godâs plan for your life. I have really enjoyed this Regency fiction and look forward to what the author writes next! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own. With a heroine who reminds me of Jane Austenâs Emma, a meddlesome lady who wants to help people because she knows what is best, Ms. Hunter brings levity to her latest romance. âAfter all, it seemed making other peopleâs dreams come true was what she did best.â The setting was one of my favorites, a few country estates with good friends within riding distance of each other. Jonas Fitzroy and sister Sophia from book two in the series, are settling in to their country life. In Jonas, the author gives us an unusual hero who is neither rich nor titled and is several years younger than the heroine, Harriet. To Jonas, Harriet is a puzzle: âThere were a great many things he didnât know about, and he was quickly moving âwomenâ to the top of that list.â Jonas, who has a Bible quote for almost every contingency, wonders about his purpose in life. Since his sister married, he is no longer her protector. Harriet sets her sights on Jonas to resolve the situation. But does Jonas want her meddling in his life? Opposites attract but it takes a while with such stubborn, opinionated people. A likable story with quirky characters and a pretty country setting. It was fun to see Jonas and Harriet grow and learn to navigate what life threw at them. *I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House on behalf of the author. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.* Harriet and Jonas are a wonderful couple that come from different backgrounds. Will they be able to get past these differences as they become friends and maybe even more. Both of these characters have secrets and must decide if they can trust each other and get past these secrets. This made me laugh and sometimes cry. I did not want to put the book down. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Harrietâs got good intentions. She wants to help people, but she manipulates them to get there. Jonas is more straightforward, but the one person heâs been intent on fixing everything for is his twin sister who no longer needs him to fix things in her life now that sheâs married.
I loved that Hunter used so much scripture in this book. Itâs part of Jonas, and even though he doesnât always use the Bible verses as intended, this part of his character shows me that heâs going to be a strong spiritual leader for Harriet who has a lot of growing in that area to do.
Readers also get a good number of cameos from people in Hunterâs previous books which is a fun surprise for those of us who have been fans since the Hawthorne House days, but they also arenât so obvious that a new reader will be lost. Anyone in search of an engaging regency romance with a few laughs, some great banter, and solid character growth throughout cannot go wrong with this book.
