Necessary Evils follows the Mulvaney family; seven men who were diagnosed as psychopaths as children and adopted by billionaire Thomas Mulvaney. By day, the men lead normal lives, by night, they channel their psychopathic tendencies to kill those who the justice system fail to prosecute. The fifth book, Mad Man, features Avi Mulvaney, fashion designer and twin to Asa and Felix Navarro, aspiring fashionista and younger brother to Jericho (from #3: Moonstruck). Like the rest of the books in the series, this was fantastic. It was slightly more depressing than I was expecting though. Felix is a big ball of anxiety and it was a bit anxiety inducing. He wasn't as tough or as put together as I had expected. Avi was also less intense than I thought he would. I mean I know he's the less dominant twin but I still thought he'd be more fierce, but as per the description used in the book - he's like a murderous golden retriever. So that was that. I also thought that there would be more explanation about the twin dynamic in this one. It wasn't really covered in Headcase, so I thought with the other twin it would be - but it was pretty much left alone which was a bit disappointing. I wanted to know more about how it worked and what the limitations were. The relationship between Felix and Avi is sweeter than I was anticipating. I thought there'd be more of a love/hate dynamic but it's fairly tame compared to the other books. I liked it better than Atticus' story (Moonstruck) but less than the others. It wasn't as violent as the other books either - at least, not until the end Overall 4.5 stars, rounded to 5. Man, every time, I think this one can't get any stranger. And, every time, I am the kind of wrong that leaves me wide-eyed and impressed. By now I see the things this author always does, and I did think the epilogue was a little, not overdone exactly, but cluttered. OTOH, maybe that fits since this is the second book about the twins. Anyway, Felix is a terrific character. This series is so weird. :) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Necessary Evils (5)
Avi Mulvaney is many things. Son. Twin. Owner of the fashion label, Gemini. Murderous psychopath. Together, he and his brother, Asa, make one brutally efficient monster, ridding the world of predators who victimize the innocent. History proves Avi and Asa don't do well apart, but their father has decided to test that theory. Felix Navarro knows exactly who he is. Baby brother. Fashionista. Vigilante. While he's not happy that his big brother married a Mulvaney, the union has its perks. Like a paid internship with Gemini. But all good things come with a cost and, for Felix, that's enduring Avi Mulvaney each day, which inevitably leads to thinking about him every night. Felix doesn't like Avi. He's cocky, condescending, overbearing, and inappropriate. He's also sexy, brilliant, and twice as lethal as Felix. Still, Felix loathes him. Even if he keeps letting him kiss him. And touch him. Even if he slipped just once. It was still hate sex, and it would never happen again. Ever. Except, Avi's being sent to help take down a dangerous crime ring and he's ordered Felix to come along. Felix has vowed to stay strong. To remember he hates Avi. But they're trapped together and there's only one bed, and it's so hard to hate Avi in the dark when he's whispering how Felix belongs to him. Felix belongs to no man, but Avi is determined. He has one week to prove to Felix that he's the exception to his rule. After all, who says no to a Mulvaney? Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
