I was a bit hesitant about this one. One of the protagonists is Galen, from In the Cards -- I wasn’t satisfied with how part of his story concluded in that, and I wasn’t convinced that Point By Point could rectify that.

But, to my surprise, it really does! In part, because seeing how Galen has made peace with, and now understands, what happened in In the Cards helped to put it in perspective, as did seeing his subsequent interactions with the people that he’s closest to.

The other protagonist here is a journalist, Lydia, who knows Galen through a mutual friend, and asks for his help in getting invited to the right sort of parties so she can pursue an investigation. So there’s the fun of fake dating (albeit not called thus because 1920s), and the satisfying atmosphere of mystery, and a growing romance between two clever people who are learning how to work together and support each other. I liked this one a lot! ( )
