Jack Paras was the collector's collector without compare. For almost fiftey years the art of collecting was his life's blood. All his fellow collectors knew him as the person ou culd turn to for knowledge and advice.
Jack's passion for collectingincuded European arms and armor, middle and southest Asian arms, and of course, all aspects of Japanese arms and armor. In fact, if Jack had had his way as a collector, he would have found one of every type and kind of arm described in Stone's Glossary. In some cases he came very close to doing this when one sees some of the very rare types and forms of pieces in his collection.
This present catalogue represents many of the finest objects from Jack's Japanese arms and armor collection. Fellow collectors will note those favored rare examples in this catalogue. It was the hope of all, and the great wish of this cataloguer that Jack would be in attendance at his sale, but he was denied that, having passed away April 14, 1981.
