One of a series for adults to read WITH children and for ESL to polish their English and learn about people who have shaped their world. Terry Fox has long been a hero to the people of his native Canada, those of us in the US, as well as cancer survivors everywhere. As an athletic teen he was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer and had an amputation of his leg. Despite that, he began a marathon run for cancer research across Canada wearing out several prostheses. The next Terry fox run is on September 17,2023 sponsored by the Terry Fox Foundation. There is even a Canadian Coast Guard Ship (CCGS) Terry Fox. The illustrations by T. Connor are mostly simple, colorful, and forthright. Every public and school library needs a copy! I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Quarto Publishing Group/Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. Fox was a runner who lost a leg to cancer. Later, he worked to raise money for cancer research, even going so far to run the 'Marathon of Hope' which lasted over one hundred days.
The end of the book contains a more detailed look at Fox's life, using language suited for much older readers. Inspirational and educational both, this entire series is great! I read this with my cubs. We love this series! Highly recommended!
