This book is about Kiera, the goddaughter of a Politician and ex-wife of MMA Champion Conor Kelly. Kiera and Conor have 2 daughters together, Una and Fia. When Conor's career stopped he started turning his anger and fists towards Kiera and she left him to protect herself and her daughters. Even moving far away and hiding her location doesn't stop him from finding her and doing what he does best. As much as she tries to shield her daughters so they don't see it or know what happened, the girls are too smart for that. I mean a bullet goes off in their house and it's not going to make them wake up and ask questions? Come on now, that's just unrealistic.
After the last time she got hurt at the hands of Conor her godfather called in a favor to the MacKenzie's and that's when we met Shaun. There is an instant attraction between the two but Shaun tries to hold to his guns and keep things professional and not crossing that line. He started caring about Kiera and her girls and just wanted Conor gone so they would be safe. Well that certainly didn't last to long but it was a drag to get there. Only small parts of the book to me focused on their relationship and the build up and execution of it. We do see others from the Brotherhood in this book including Shaun's adoptive brother Bishop. I really hope he gets a book soon cause he's an awesome character. The book says it can be read as a standalone but I don't see that. You have to at least read the 1st book in the series to understand things going on. Next up in Ronan's book and I hope it can hold my attention unlike this book did. ( )
