I stumbled on this book shortly after I finished the Special Forces Qualification Course (Q-Course) and I really enjoyed it. It is one of the most insightful books into the personal & team dynamics of the small group of professional solders (12-9) that risk their lives together. When I showed up at 3/3d SF Group, it turned out that several (3) of my company's senior NCOs (sergeants) were characters in the book (the author uses psuedonyms). They had been some of the mid-grade NCOs in another battalion when Anna was doing her field work. They also said she nailed it.
This is not a book about shooting guns, blowing demo, and free-fall parachuting. it is a book about the human side of an elite group of soldiers - what makes them tick individually and as teams ( )
