LibraryThing in its early days could not handle this small publisher ISBN, These photographs with its choice portraits of hairy characters brings the American Civil War to life. Looking at these pictures is the next best thing to actually attending a re-enactment.

Another important aspect is that all re-enactors are British. Apparently, there are a thousand re-enactors per side living across the channel who fight to preserve the union or their "rats". An advantage of using British specimens is fewer plus-sized soldiers (the age distortion remains). The text is usually historically accurate. Overall, this title as well as the series are highly recommended. ( )
