This book gave great detail about informing children about the human body. I would recommend this book for upper elementary possibly middle school level. It is very interesting and the parts are clearly detailed so you can understand. ( )

From Head to Toe is a very informative book that teaches students the intricacies of the human body. However, I have mixed feelings about the book because of the illustrations and the extra textual features. The illustrations, while very detailed and clearly labeled, are oftentimes overused and busy. One page in particular, the about senses and the brain has no focal point so your eyes are constantly scanning the page for the most important element. There is also so much text on the page, it's hard to tell what to read first. The other element, the extra textual features are great because the blurbs include experiments and projects students can do to help them understand the human body more, however, a lot of times, the instructions for the project take up a lot of the page. It may have been a better choice to put them all at the end of the book, so they could have their own page. ( )

I liked this book for many reasons. First, the writing style of the book is exploratory and appropriate for the elementary school reader. children reading the book are able to be exposed to how certain systems in the human body work, without getting too in detail or graphic. The point of view of the book is written in third person because it is an informational text. The author relates the book to children reading though very well by discussing the children's bodies. The diagrams used in the book really help the reader map out what the author is discussing in the text. the reader is able to easily follow along with systems in the body because of these aids. The main idea of this text is the introduction for children of the human body systems. ( )

In my opinion this is a great and informative book. I liked this book because of it's vibrant illustrations. I enjoyed the mapping of the body parts in a child friendly way. I think the illustrations give a lot of information about the body without being too overwhelming for the reader. I liked this book because of added activities that can be done with this book. The book allows for readers to be hands on in an activity, instead of just reading a book and not moving around. I liked this book because of its wording. The books has a lot of information on the human body, but it is put into simple terms for elementary students. This way younger readers can gain an understanding of how the human body functions without being challenged too much by the vocabulary. The meaning behind this book is to teach about how the human body works. ( )

Summary: This book gives a perfect view for children into what makes the human body tic. The illustrations point out the different body parts, and show why they are there and what they do. There are also ideas for hands on experiments and activities.

Personal Reaction: Good book, good read, awesomely educational. I could actually learn from this if I needed to. Great illustrations that help with the educational instruction potential.

Classroom Extension: This would be a great tool to teach anatomy in a science classroom setting. Like most books meant for the younger generation, this book has attention getting potential. I could see using this as an addition to the classes textbook. ( )
