Fantasy. Fiction. Romance. HTML:

COULD SHE REALLY BE THE FATED HEALER?

All her life, Destiny Rue has feared the family curse: insanity. So when she meets Kade Sharpe, a handsome businessman interested in her scientific research, she attributes the vivid fantasies and, worse yet, voices, to the onset of her dreaded family legacy. But then Kade spins a tale about an Ash Demon Warrior blackmailed by the Cadre into saving the Crystal Goddess, a healer of legend who could destroy his kind. Suddenly, everything Destiny has believed about her life is called into question....

The old Destiny would have been terrified. But, armed with the strength Kade has given her, the new Destiny considers the magnitude of her legacy. For if she is the fated healer, how can she choose between the life of the man who's changed her entire world and the balance between good and evil?

A quick, easy read--less than 300 pages. For being a Harlequin Romance book, it seemed to lack the love/sex scenes that other books have. It was a little slow to start, but good nonetheless. There didn't seem to be as much suspense as I thought there would be, it was mostly inner turmoil from Destiny and Kadenshar, and I'm used to Harlequin books with a paranormal storyline having adventure and suspense--getting chased, fight scenes, etc. In this respect I was slightly disappointed.

At the beginning, Destiny seems weak and it's hard to root for her as our heroine. No one likes to read about weak women that can hardly take care of themselves. But after Kadenshar shows up and we start seeing the connection between them, we see Destiny get stronger, more confident, and assertive. She becomes a woman we can like and hope to emulate.

Overall, the book was good. It was a quick read, worth spending a couple days on. If you like romance novels, then I'd recommend it and say go ahead and put it on your To Read List. I would have given it four stars, except the excitement level was kind of low. ( )

Destiny is afraid that she's going to go mad like her mother, what she doesn't realise is that the madness is paranormal power that is uncontroled and Kade is sent to bring her to somewhere where she can get help. She has the potential to save the world with her power. What they don't reckon with is their attraction to each other.

Readable but nothing spectacular. ( )

"Saving Destiny" is a quick read that feels much longer. Heroine Dee (Destiny) Rue is a talented, if unappreciated, scientist who is desperately afraid of falling prey to the same insanity that claimed her mother. Or so she believes. She is completely unaware of the mysterious crystal powers that she owns, or the paranormal battle waging around her. As a heroine, it took me a while to really "get" Dee. I've heard of beta heroes and, to my mind, Dee is something of a beta heroine. She spends a good deal of the story somewhat catatonic. Her self doubt is so great that I, as a reader, doubted her abilities as well. When she finally transforms from weak human to supremely powerful goddess, it's almost too quick to follow...
