This was actually my favorite book growing up! It’s perfect for beginner readers because there are pictures for harder words. The book is about a little girl who is a very picky eater and will only eat spaghetti. She desperately tries to get away from the other types of food her family tries to feed her. That is until one day when she goes over her friend’s house and decides to hide the fruits and vegetables their having under her spaghetti. She is shocked to soon find that all of her food is gone. She was so excited and decided that she would eat anything as long as she could hide it her spaghetti. ( )

This book is about a little girl who is a very picky eater. She only wants to eat spaghetti. Her parents are having fruits and vegetables, so she goes to eat at her friends house, because they always have spaghetti. Except they are also eating fruits and vegetables in addition to spaghetti, so she hides them under her spaghetti and soon her food is gone. She told her parents that she will eat anything if she can hide it in spaghetti. This book has pictures in place of some of the words and it has flash cards.

Personal Reaction -

I loved this book because my son was a picky eater, so I can relate to the parents in the book. I like the pictures in place of some of the words, so the children don't have to struggle with those words. They had pictures for peas, bees, grapes, apes, and other words. I liked the combination of easy reading with picture clues. It's great for a beginning reader.

Extension Activities -

- I would have a conversation about each childs favorite and least favorite food, then we could read the story. Then they could imagine putting their least favorite food under their favorite food and eating it!

- I would use the flashcards in the book for literature folders. Each child will get a folder with a book and activity in it, then they have 20 minutes of class time to work on the folder. This folder would have the book and flash cards in it. ( )
