The writing at points was shaky, kind of choppy and, the best way I can describe it is low quality, but the pace of action and suspense made it easy to deal with as I devoured every page wondering what would happen next. Really enjoyed it and look forward to picking up other books from this author. ( ) This fast paced story of an ex-CIA man beating the odds time and time again was an enjoyable read--and it didn't hurt that he found the love of his life along the way. Steve Decker is fed up with the CIA--especially when on an assignment in Rome he is paired with the most incompetent agent ever. Steve feels he needs to stop living like a spy and discover what life is really all about--but leaving the CIA is not so easy. Still he thinks he has left his former life behind him and found happiness--even love--in Santa Fe. That is until a band of armed men try to kill him and his new lover Beth. Steve's incredible skills then come back into use as he tries to figure out who in the hell is trying to kill him--or are they after Beth? The ups and downs of this thrill ride are satisfying, if utterly impossible to believe. If you want excitement with a tidbit of "guy will do anything for love" romance this is a great read. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

HTML: Steve Decker, an American intelligence operative whose specialty is counter-terrorism, has devoted his life to the protection of his country, denying his emotions in order to survive in a deadly shadow world of violence and deception. Desperate to find a new direction for himself, Decker makes a pilgrimage to Santa Fe, where he settles and at last finds peace and, eventually, love. His fantasies about marriage and children with Beth Dwyer, a captivating, enigmatic woman, are destroyed when four gunmen break into his house in the middle of the night. Decker's initial assumptions that he is being stalked by enemies from his other life proves incorrect when Beth suddenly disappears after a bomb destroys her house. He is forced to realize that she the target, that a dark past haunts her, that she is not the person he thought she was. Fearing for life, Decker sets out to find her and comes face to face with the harrowing consequences of extreme denial. .Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
