Desmond Winter called Brady in the middle of the night because his son's wife was found dead on his boat. The police think that her husband, Marc, did it, but he has an alibi (an unhappy married woman). Nathan Greenberg was found dead in a local hotel. Somehow the two deaths are related. Then Marc's alibi Andy Pavelich is found dead - her abusive husband did it. In the end it was Marc's sister Kat Winter. At age 14, Kat became pregnant (with her brother's baby) and her Mom, Connie, took her out of state to have the baby. When they were returning (by train) Kat pushed her mother into the train & she was killed. Des always thought his wife would come back - little did he know that she was killed back in 1971. Lots of twists to the story. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

When a minister's son is accused of murder, Boston lawyer Brady Coyne doesn't know whom to trust in this "very satisfying caper" (Publishers Weekly). Desmond Winters has had more trouble than a Unitarian minister deserves. Over six years ago, his wife disappeared with their fourteen-year-old daughter, promising to return someday. The daughter came back after six months; the wife never did. The experience scarred Desmond's son, Marc, who acted out by getting involved with cocaine smugglers and marrying an exotic dancer. Through all his troubles, Des was counseled by Brady Coyne, a sensitive lawyer to Boston's elite. But now something has happened that even Brady may not be able to fix: Marc's wife is dead, and the minister's son is the prime suspect. Marc finds Maggie dead in their boat, and calls the police immediately. Brady doesn't believe Marc murdered his wife, but he also knows that in this family, anything is possible. It could be drugs, it could be the missing mother--but a beautiful young girl is dead, and Brady Coyne needs to know why. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

He works on both cases and soon they turn to three when an attorney is murdered.
The local police are no help and Brady's approach is a calm, down home style. He's got enough different things that make him interesting as a character. He enjoys having a drink in his office and keeps a bottle in his desk drawer, he trades jokes with his friends and loves to talk and to go fishing. However, when it comes to this case, he's like a bulldog. ( )
