When President Thomas Lloyd arrives in Zurich, Switzerland, for a Russian oil summit, he suffers a massive heart attack. Despite the best medical care available, his only chance for survival is an immediate heart transplant. Five miles away, political journalist Jack McDermott has awoken from a near-death coma, and his name mistakenly turns up as a donor match for Lloyd. The hospital, quickly realizing their error, informs the President’s cabinet. However, with the Russian economy on the verge of collapse and Lloyd’s life in the balance, they decide to do the unthinkable.
