La diferente sensibilidad hacia la biblioteca pública del mundo anglosajón queda plasmada en la serie «Tengo buenos modales» de la Editorial Everest y que procede de Picture Window Books (Capstone) (http://goo.gl/fXQhR). Permítaseme dudar que un autor, menos un editor, español hubiera introducido por iniciativa propia este título en su colección. Y si hay alguien que pueda convencerme de lo contrario, aquí tiene la oportunidad.

Un breve manual ¿de urbanidad? que enseña a estar en la biblioteca y respetar sus servicios a los más pequeños (a partir de 6 ó 7 años, antes, si se les lee o cuenta) con ilustraciones coloristas limpias y claras. El contenido se recoge en textos concisos y directos. También algún que otro padre o madre debería leérselo y aplicarlo, no sólo en una biblioteca, sino también en cualquier lugar público... Lo cierto es que es válido para cualquier edad y momento.

I like how the book shows positive phrases to say, and leaves out negative phrases not to say. ( )

Lots of kids use the library, and show us what good manners look like

Okay, now this is a preachy book. It's little more than an illustrated list of rules, and the illustrations, while 'modern' and energetic, do little to enhance the text. If kids learn what the book would have them do, it is only for the satisfaction of library staff, and not the kids. The premise is not the problem, but rather the execution: it's entirely devoid of humor, story, or characters kids can identify with. I cannot imagine a kid enjoying reading it to her- or himself, or any but the stuffiest librarians, teachers, or parents choosing it for a storytime. ( )

I do one lesson on Manners and use the book "Manners in the Library" by DeGezelle. I also use Mr. Wiggle's Library during one lesson and this year I'm thinking about using "What Happened to Marion's Book".
