I thought it was a really bad book because it did not tell you much about Galileo at all unless you read the introduction and the authors note but even then it was pretty limited information. It also had no plot and was very short, simple, and uneventful. In the end she finds a feather and it just stops and the only way that would mean anything to the reader is if you already know the discoveries he made with physics with a feather. I think this story could be good if it was continued and added in some more information about the characters and the instruments that were used. I really didn’t like this book. I don’t think the story went anywhere, it didn’t mean anything, and it felt like a waste of time the entire 2 minutes it took me to read it. This book had a lot of potential, but it really fell flat. The illustrations were pretty cool, and I enjoyed looking at them, but they added nothing to the story just like the words. The plot of the story was just Galileo's daughter going about her day, but it wasn't really clear as to why. The setting had NO effect on the plot of the story, because nothing about this book makes sense really. The illustrations in the story represent the time that the story took place and the setting pretty well. While her father is sleeping, Virginia goes into her father's office and looks through what is said to be his "treasure box". In the treasure box, she finds two pieces of glass which looks like pieces of a telescope. She uses those two pieces of glass to discover new things around her. After discovering the two pieces of glass, she finds a feather in her father's box. What is the feather for? Why is this feather so important to Galileo? This story shows the discovery of the telescope. Galileo's Treasure Box has short sentences which is great for younger children, but I think the plot would be difficult for them to understand. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

I thought this book was somewhat boring, but I also couldn't understand the point of it either, but overall it was cute regardless. ( )
