This story was amazingly close to the original Golden Goose story, though there were a few differences. The illustrations used light, pastel colors, and were very clear. I was able to feel as if I was cutting down trees myself, standing in the forest. The style of the writing did a great job of representing the time period, as kings, items mentioned, trolls, and the golden goose. I read the original many times growing up, so this was a wonderful memory and twist on a great story! ( ) This was shocking. It's almost exactly the same exact story as The Golden Goose retold by Uri Shulevitz except they are different. It seems they are both based on the same story but in this one, the characters are children and turns out the princess was upset because the goose belonged to her and she had lost it! Also there's no shenanigans about building a boat. This was an interesting experience. Loved the soft illustrations in this book. The two older brothers try to chop down a tree and couldn't because they wouldn't share their lunch with the troll who would tell them how to do it. Then the youngest brother went and shared his lunch and was able to chop it down. "The Golden Goose" can teach children about doing things without expecting rewards. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
