This book will help the reader learn effective and accurate Greek. You never know a language unless you know the precise meaning of each idiom. Greeks have not only a word for everything but also usually a phrase, an idiom. No matter how advanced you are in Greek, this book will help you to go further. The book is written according to the newest laboratory findings in language teaching. It is an instrument of learning in the hands of both foreigners and Greeks. * Despite the title, most of the contents aren't idioms. Fixed expressions? Formulaic expressions? Yes. Idioms? No. (Idioms have a figurative meaning different from their literal meaning - they're different from the sum of their parts, in other words.)
* The expressions are organized by keyword, but not by theme. If you don't know which word in an expression the author has chosen as the keyword, you won't be able to find it.
Still, it does have a lot of examples and I'm sure it will help my Greek in the long run. (
