School teacher Gracie Terrence has wanted her next door neighbor, firefighter Steve Sheldon for two years. Despite her feelings, she has never made an overture to him, as he is engaged to another woman.
Steve has not been able to get Gracie out of his mind since the afternoon he caught her watching a tryst between him and his fiancée one sexy afternoon. With his engagement now over, he is determined to have Gracie for himself, if only for one night.
Steve and Gracie intend to have a simple, but undeniably hot, affair. Yet when tragedy threatens an abrupt end to their relationship, they realize there is more to this than either of them is ready for…
Anna Leigh Keaton has managed, in only eighty-five pages, to spin a multi-layered history for both of the lead characters, creating a rich background for each that lend credence to the obstacles to their romance. Still, she deftly manages to bring Gracie and Steve past those individual obstacles in time to find a happy ever after at the conclusion of the story.
Steve is the embodiment of everything a woman imagines in her fantasy firefighter – strong, forceful, handsome, and heroic. In addition, he surprises us with a romantic streak that is sure to melt any heroine’s heart.
As a school teacher, Gracie proves as much of a heroine as Steve is a hero, but remains down to earth so that she is easy to identify with.
The writing is fluid, the story is complete, and the romance is hot and sweet. Five Alarm Neighbor is a thoroughly enjoyable read!
