This widely used text explores how the enduring values and interests of the United States affect the ability of policy makers to respond to changes in the international environment. This fully revised new edition includes coverage of the changing utility of military force in the post-Cold War world and the impact of the Republican majority on the foreign policy role of Congress. I would suppose just to state that it is a College Textbook would be a review unto itself. I would rate it as a basically standard textbook - filled with pages of dry factual information. Yet, it did enhance my knowledge of the subject and I am better able to understand the hows and whys of some of the United States foreign policy issues and all the underlying facets that influence certain decisions. So, I have to give the book credit in that it fulfilled its stated purpose in life. But, unless you are a total political junkie I wouldn't recommend running to an online site to look for a used copy. ( )
