Definitely not what I expected - in the good and the bad way.

First 200-300 pages had me laughing and anticipating what will happen next. The characters are funny and crazy (the type of crazy that's fun to read about but wouldn't be so much fun to be with), of which Brandt is my absolute favorite. The plot was interesting and it kept me going despite the disheartening page number. However, what I really wanted to know was who the Archer is and as soon as I found out, it all went downhill for me.
The amount of Shawn/Remy drama went up, the amount of banter among the MCs down (though Brandt was still great fun), and it seemed to me as if the writer lost track of the plot - as if up to the point of exposing the Archer she had everything in order, and then didn't know what to do with the plot after that.
The ending lacked a conclusion - and since I didn't see any info on a sequel, it left me fairly disappointed. ( )

The more I read this book, the more I couldn't put it down. I loved the suspense so much all I wanted to do was flip to the end to find out who the Archer was (don't worry..I didn't! lol). I really loved the characters. They all had quirks that made them endearing in their own way. Abigail's writing is superb.

This was totally on pace to be a 5 star book for me. About 75% in, however, it lost me a bit. Too much information got thrown at me quickly and I found myself frustrated with the the ending. It would have kept at the 5 star rating if there was an epilogue to make the story a bit more complete. It seemed to end a bit abruptly with a HFN, rather than a HEA. ( )

This was an awesome book. The characters were wonderfully flawed and human. You can't help but root for them. The mystery was wonderfully layered and kept me guessing right until The Archer was revealed. I loved how the men who started out as loners created their own family and loyalties to each other. Very well written book and the only complaint that I have is it wasn't enough, I want more. ;) ( )

It was definitely a good read.

The action/spy storyline though got a bit overloaded over the course of the story. It was too many turns and too many endless discussions with no result, especially in the second part of the book. Too many secret groups and undergroups that you easily lost trail of who belongs to which one and who is good/bad/in between. The end was not really an end as well.

Why did I still like it so much? Because it had great MCs and it is no small feat to have 6 of them in one book. And all them got their room in the story. I really liked the writing a lot. There was much humour in it, and some of those early discussions in the book are simply hilarious.

This is one of the few books which I would have liked even more if it was a little shorter and the story more streamlined. I got confused after all the discussions and no real action plan.

All in all a very entertaining read with some small shortcomings regarding storyline in my opinion. ( )

Six agents have been brought together in order to take down the Archer, a rogue agent who seems bent on destroying the Organization. As these six men get to know each other, friendships grow and betrayals threaten to tear them apart. This book absolutely wore me out. I couldn't put it down, but I finally had to around 4:00 a.m. Roux gives us six unique characters to follow, and they each bring both revelation and confusion. They run the gamut from communications experts to assassins to a guy who just "likes to blow shit up." They are insane, and they don't deny it. The twists and turns in the plot keep the characters and the readers on their toes. I thought I had the archer figured out a couple of times, but I was wrong. All in all, if you love a good secret agent thriller, I highly recommend this one.I would have given it five stars except for two things:1. Lack of condoms! These guys are super secret agents trained to use any means necessary including seduction. At one point one character actually asks another if a third characters "come" is still in his ass as he takes him. I'm sorry, but if you know how to make a bomb out of a pine cone, surely you know that you ought to be using condoms. 2. I need more! Even though this book is over 500 pages, I still need to know more about what happens to these guys. I am going to assume that Roux has a sequel or two planned. ( )
