Wilson is the new boy in class. He wears a long blue blazer, and when asked to take it off he finds every excuse not to. He wears it while he eats, plays, and paints. When its time to go home he explains his mother has a long way to travel and won't be there for a while. A friendly family brings him to their house, and in the middle of the night, his mother arrives in their spaceship to pick him up. ( )

Okay then. What a suprise ending. I prefer picture books that can be read over & over, but this one, well, once you know the conceit, you're pretty much done. I think, at least, at this point. ( )

The ending was not what I expected it to be. I thought it was a sad story about a little boy losing his mom and it was her blazer. I thought that is why he was wearing the blazer but in the end he was from a another planet. He was just waiting for his mom to get him in her spaceship. I thought it was a cute ending. ( )

I initially like the story and where it was going but when the author allowed Wilson to go home with a classmates mother when no one showed up for him, I knew this was not a book that I would read to my students. This might be scary for some kids to think that they would be sent home with strangers if their parents did not show up. It completely made me disconnect from the message she extending of acceptance. Children have differences that may seem strange but children should give them a chance and seek to understand their differences. ( )

A girl meets a mysterious boy at school named Wilson. He has on a blue blazer that is to big for him, but he won't take it off. He also has no one to pick him up from school because he says his mom lives far away. So he stays with her family. Later on at night his mom comes and picks him up through the window. It turns out that the reason Wilson wouldn't take off his blue blazer because he has a tail and is from another planet. ( )
