NCLA Review - With the large number of children’s books on Noah and the flood, does your library need one more? Paul Maier, professor at Western Michigan University , has written over 250 scholarly articles and nine other books. What sets this book apart is Maier’s approach that the flood story is Biblically and historically accurate. Each chapter begins with a Bible verse followed by questions. The verses selected convey how man was sinful but God redeemed humankind through Noah and his family. Maier provides a defense that the flood happened just as recorded in the Bible. This book may be too scholarly for young children to read on their own. Though it has the look and format of a children’s picture book, the concepts and ideas are quite advanced. However, the references to historical accuracy may serve as a good introduction or launching point for Sunday school teachers and parents who engage children in discussion on ideas concerning the flood. Ages 6-12. Rating: 4 —BM. 32p, Concordia 2008, $16.99 [C 222.11] ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
