In de 19e eeuw was het andersom, vrouwen namen een mannennaam als pseudoniem om hun boek gepubliceerd te krijgen. In de arabische wereld is het natuurlijk helemala bijzonder om een vrouwennaam aan te nemen. Het boek gaat over een goed geintegreerde palestijnse arts in Israel. Op een dag pleegt zijn vrouw een zelfmoordaanslag. Hij start een zoektocht om te snappen waarom zijn vrouw het heeft gedaan. Ik kan wel verklappen, hij begrijpt het ook aan het eind van het boek niet. Het boek gaat over een probleem waar de hele wereld mee te maken heeft. Je begrijpt de haat enigszins, maar de eeuwige onverdraagzaamheid niet. En Amin ook niet. Hij kiest gewoon voor zichzelf en niet voor een 'zaak'. Hert boek is bij vlagen spannend, je leeft wel mee. Maar het is af en toe wat pathetisch en zit soms zelfs tegen een 'doktersroman' aan. De personen, zeker zijn vrouw niet, gaan niet echt voor je leven. Jammer. ( )

Hert boek is bij vlagen spannend, je leeft wel mee. Maar het is af en toe wat pathetisch en zit soms zelfs tegen een 'doktersroman' aan. De personen, zeker zijn vrouw niet, gaan niet echt voor je leven. Jammer. ( )
