The rest of the book, from pages 31 to 95, contains the colour plates, in most cases one to a page but occasionally two, almost all are shown as large as the page will allow. There are about seventy works in total included and each is accompanied by a brief commentary.
The list of artists includes Roy Cross, Monatgue Dawson, Sir William Russell Flint, Walter Langley, Sir Alfred Munnings, Edward Seago, David Shepherd, Frank Wootton and John Worsley and many others. Only very rarely are artists are represented by more than one picture.
Even within the scope of the book the range of the work is wide, from landscapes and seascapes, from rural England to the African wild, along with still life paintings and quaint, even twee depictions of animals. There are some splendid paintings here by notable artists, but a number of the picures while causing some to “oh and ah”, may makes others cringe, so sugary are they.
