To be perfectly honest, my very favorite part of the book was Edward Hopper’s painting, “Office at Night,” on the cover. I do love that painting, but this poetry that was recommended to me by someone—a name that curiously has slipped my mind—never connected with me. Time and time again a line here or there would pique my interest, only to lose it quickly as I read on. I tend to read many poetry collections twice, just to see if I will react differently the second time through. I’m sorry to be so negative, but twice was not the charm. In a few days I’ll give someone else a chance at John Engman’s poetry when I put it in a Little Free Library box down the street. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
