Imogene loves history. She is saddened that the old historical society building is falling apart. She and her dad fix it up and she is ready for people to tour this wonderful place. However, no one comes. No one seems interested, especially after they learn that a shoelace factory is going to be put there and will put them on the map. Imogene tries everything. She even writes to a famous historian. The day the bulldozers arrive she locks herself in stocks. When they ask her father what he is going to do about it he joins her. People come and hang out. The mayor shoes up and so does the historian along with the President. They declare the house a historical monument and save the building and all of its history. The book is full of historical quotes and tidbits of history. This book shows that one person can make a difference. ( )

Imogene Tripp is a young girl from a very small town. This very small town's people are interested in being placed on the map and Imogene does everything it takes to make sure that does not mean destroying the historical society in which she worked diligently to restore. Imogene's hard work and persistence pays off in the end and everyone is happy, including the town's mayor. This book helps remind anyone reading it the importances of history. ( )

This book is about a little girl called Imogene who loved history. She founded the historical society in her town. She tried to preserve an old building and promote history. She did so against the mayors wishes. She rallied and drew attention to her cause contacting every one she could. She let everyone know the building was being torn down. When the bulldozers showed up she began protesting. Imogene's protests led to the President coming down to save the day. The building was declared a National Landmark. I would use this book during a unit of national landmarks, significant women, and to show the children to stand up for what you believe in. ( )

This book shows just how important it is to never give up on something you truly believe in! It does a wonderful job of incorporating little bits of history from the qoutes used throughout the book. I think the illustrations do a fantastic job helping capture just how determined Imogene is! ( )

Imogene Tripp is from a small town in Liddleville, New Hampshsher. The town was so small that it wasn’t even a speck on the state map. Imogene loved history and searched for new things to learn or tell other people. Upon her love for history Imogene’s new interest was Liddleville Historical Society house. Imogene discovered so much history in the house that she loved. Imogene cleaned the house and had a grand opening to show the town the history in the house. However, no one came and Imogene later found out the house would be demolished to be turned into a shoelace factory. Imogene protested and did everything in her power to stop the mayor from getting the house demolished. To Imogene’s surprise she found a letter that stated how George Washington stayed in the house which would make the house an historical landmark. Imogene found a way for the house to not be demolished.

I like the plot of this book. I also like how the book portrays to not give up in what you believe in. Imogene stood up for something she loved and without anyone by her side except for her father she accomplished her goal. ( )
