Now that communism has officially lost its ideological battle with capitalism it's time for the winners to rewrite history. In Eastern Europe, people are even beginning to look back at the communist era with a sense of nostalgia. 'The Thoughts of Chairman Miaow' takes the stark political sloganeering of Sino-Soviet communism and combines it with ickle-wickle pussycats. The book is comprised of a series of Chinese propaganda posters which have been cheekily subverted by the introduction of cute cats.   'To be attacked by the enemy is not a bad thing but a good thing,' said Mao, and his words are echoed throughout the book by a variety of Chairman Miaows.   'The Thoughts Of Chairman Miaow' neatly anthropomorphises the views of would-be feline dictators, with the text provided and inspired by a variety of die-hard apparatchiks at Politbureau HQ. Alongside exhortations to go out and destroy enemies of the state, there are appeals from the national intelligentsia; for unity; for freedom; for brotherhood; for social justice among the proletariat and (cat) calls to confront and defeat imperialist enemies. Long live Chairman Miaow!… (meer)

An amusing remix of propaganda paintings from communist China, centered around the notion that the feline Chairman Miaow is dispensing his wisdom to a treat-noshing purring proletariat. This "little red book" had many laugh-out-loud moments for me. This is pure absurdity in the vein of LOLcats.. ( )
