Jane Austen's first novel tells the story of Catherine Morland, the very ideal of a nice girl. But her naïve heroine is also in possession of an overactive imagination, fueled by her obsession with gothic novels. When Catherine meets Henry Tilney, she's instantly smitten. But when she's invited to his home, the sinister Northanger Abbey, she learns not to interpret the world through the pages of lurid thrillers. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Full disclosure: I've had a life-long love affair with Jane Austen. And this novel is no deviation from her ability to captivate a diverse reading audience. While this bit of writing is more political in nature (Austen inserts herself as a character more than once) than previous writings, it still manages to capture the imagination and empathy of the 21st century reader!
If you're an Austen fan already, I don't have to recommend this read. If you're the sort who has been thinking about giving turn of the 19th century literature a go - then this is your huckleberry! ( )
