This book was the author's account of his time spent living on the streets of various cities. He speaks of his hope that people, particularly Christians, would respond to his situation with compassion and help. The book is somewhat cleansed of the reality of the streets. He omits the curse words and other language common to the homeless population in many areas - while I appreciate his caution, it deprives the reader of the full experience. I found the book interesting, but having worked first hand with the homeless and mentally ill, it still doesn't convey the brutality and hopelessness often found on the streets. However, if the book causes even one person to recognize that the homeless are human and deserve to be treated us such (with firm compassion), then the author will have done his job.
