They have a moment where they console each other, without knowing the identity of the girl in the adjoining stall. When they emerge from their respective stalls they are horrified to discover that the two girls are at opposite ends of the social spectrum; Lola a.k.a Frog-Face, a girl constantly the victim of cruel pranks and snide remarks, and Tabby, the queen bee among mean girls and the popular elite of the school. The remainder of the book tells the inside story of each girl, and the end of the novel has them coming, once again, into contact with each other, this time at a fire where Lola's dad, a firefighter, saves the life of the person most important to Tabby. I enjoyed the descriptions of Lola's life; the exhaustion she must endure as a result of being the caregiver to her brothers and sisters. Pages 25 to 35 which both involve baths would be an excellent read aloud to show the extreme differences between the two girls and their situations.
