Shows the ways that a few animals (pig, snake, hummingbird, penguin, dolphin, etc.) move using some kind of optical-illusion thing where moving the page pulls on a panel inside the page and makes the images appear to move.

I think technically this is interesting to an adult, but the black lines that allow for the optical illusion make it pretty hard to actually see the image (as you can see from the cover) and hurt my eyes a bit. My niece doesn’t really care about seeing the movement but loves the onomatopoeia (e.g. “flip-flop-floop”). This book was published in 2009 and it would be interesting to see if the book technology has progressed since then. ( )

My 1 1/2 year old enjoys this book. Of course he loves most books but I bought this one from the thrift store specifically because every Monday for six months this was the first book he'd grab from the shelf at my daughter's ballet class and we'd read it at least 3-4 times each lesson. ( )

This book is a toy book that would be great for young children. It uses different verbs and oxymoron's to describe the animals actions.
In a class of 1st graders or even younger, this book could be used to teach children about new verbs for walk and about the definition of oxymoron's.
I would use this for 1st grade and younger.

The level of detail on a few animals (the hopping frog, leaping dolphin and chomping alligator) is striking, but the addition of color also has the effect of reducing the contrast, and thus the detail, in others (notably the pig, hummingbird and bear), whose features are indistinct. Still, readers should find the animations mesmerizing.
