I recommend these little treasures to anyone with an imaginative and creative child. ( ) Oh, my god, I was laughing so hard I started to cry during the squid costume scene. [return][return]Ivy and Bean get a book about ballet, and after reading about the death scenes & hauntings in "Giselle", decide they want to take ballet. Shortly after enrolling they realize that was a Bad Idea, but they're stuck. The bulk of the story consists of their efforts to get out of the final performance, an undersea wedding in which they are two "friendly squids". [return][return]So funny. Another recommendation for Ivy & Bean. I liked this book for multiple reasons. First, I liked that the plot presented many conflicts that the main characters, Ivy and Bean, faced. For example, one of the girls biggest conflict is that they started a ballet class and end up getting picked for the worst parts in their recital. They try to come up with ways to get out of the recital like getting sick and even breaking their arms. Another reason why I liked this book was because there were illustrations in a chapter book. For example, there's an illustration of Ivy and Bean in their squid costumes for their dance recital. I think that these illustration provide the reader a nice break from reading and lets them imagine what is happening in the book. The main idea from this book was to not quit. Although Ivy and Bean hated dance class, they told their parents they would not quit. They finally decided to do the dance recital and ended up having more fun than they thought they would have had.
