Sometimes, commenting on comic volumes feels like commenting on a single chapter in a book. ( ) This was definitely my favorite of the last three Knights of the Old Republic volumes. It features the most wacky hijinks of any of them. "Prophet Motive" was my favorite of the three stories in the book; in it, Zayne, Gryph, and company try to put one over on the galactic planet exchange, but end up way over their head, of course. It's fun, it has good roles for all the characters, what else could you want? I love rogues-pulling-a-con-that-goes-wrong story, and this is a nice one. The other two stories ("Faithful Execution" and "Dueling Ambitions") are pretty good, too, especially the latter, which has more complicated cons-- and an even more complicated fall-out. Zayne Carrick has finally cleared his name, but has chosen not to rejoin the Jedi Order. Instead, he’s out in the galaxy directing the trouble-making tendencies of his partner Marn Hierogryph toward scamming the scammers and ripping off the crime syndicates, with the assistance of their collection of misfit comrades. The stories in this volume unfold three of their operations while bringing out some hints about Jarael’s mysterious background. This collection has three stories, with the last of them being the strongest both in story and art, in my opinion. On the surface, it is about a swoop bike/dueling competition, but it also allows us to see hints and revelations about characters like Rohlan and Jarael, which seems like a good way to keep this comic going beyond its first major story arc. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
"Free at last from the false charges against him, former Jedi student Zayne Carrick is ready and able to seek his fortune across the galaxy. Accepting a partnership with his con-artist companion Gryph, Zayne and his friends Jarael, Rohlan, Slyssk, and Elbee head for the Core Worlds, where opportunities abound. To start business off right, they've got a new ship and limitless ideas: parting some shady-dealing Chev from their unjustly earned credits, investigating a long-lost pleasure cruiser, and swindling the big-business world of sport dueling."--p.
